Easter is only a few weeks away...

Time to start preparing for new guests!

Yesterday, Ash Wednesday, marked the beginning of the Lent season. That means Easter is only a short six weeks away! It's time to invite your community to your church.

Recent studies have shown the average attendance for "regular attendees" is now at about 2.7 times per month. In his new book Rethink Communication, Phil Bowdel reports churches he surveyed reported the average person only attended every five to six weeks. That means for the average person, you only have around ten times a year to communicate with them in person!

Easter is the number one most attended Sunday of the year and one of a shrinking number of opportunities to speak to guests in your church.

In his blog post from a couple of years ago, The Four Common High Attendance Days, Thom Rainer says...

• "I understand numbers are not everything in the health of the church. But we would be negligent if we did not see the gospel opportunities in reaching new people who might come during one of the spikes.
  
  "We have two important reminders about the four high common attendance days.
  • First, each day must be prayerfully and strategically planned with just as much effort going to follow up.
  • Second, it is very difficult for congregations to put the energy into more than four high attendance days a year. They become counterproductive past that point."
